3 Great Tips On How To Treat A Psoriasis Flare Up

Having a psoriasis flare up is a common and painful occurrence if you have this unpleasant condition. As there are no well documented cures for psoriasis, it is imperative that you do things right to help stop these. If you do not deal with a flare up, then you may end up with a worse condition than when it first began. However, there are a few easy guidelines that you should follow. You first task is to find your personal triggers, and remember these will differ between individuals. Here I will discuss three tips on how to keep a flare up from developing.

1. Changing Your Lifestyle.

You must make some key lifestyle changes if you have not done so already, this is because doing so can help avoid a psoriasis flare up. Cut or hopefully, quit smoking and alcohol consumption as these are known triggers. Do try and not to get too stressed, and if you find yourself in this situation often, try and find a way to help you relax. Try and get enough sleep. Insufficient sleep may lead to you getting stressed out more quickly.

2. Your Diet

As vital as your lifestyle when dealing with a psoriasis flare up is your diet. I am letting you know that it’s not something to overlook. It helps to eat a well balanced diet without any junk food or alcohol if at all possible. Keep yourself well hydrated by drinking plenty of plain water which is something a lot of people plainly fail to do.

3. Your Skincare

Finally, when trying to prevent a psoriasis flare up, you should treat your skin very carefully. Basic but regular habits will encourage a better looking skin. Bathe in tepid, not hot water and when you get out, lightly pat yourself dry rather than rub. Thoroughly moisturise your skin frequently and particularly after you bathe. Avoid anything that is fragranced as this may bring on an attack. Wear natural cotton close to your skin as it is least likely to affect you. Use plenty of high SP factor sunscreen if you must go out in the sun, and do this well before you are exposed. Finally, I know it’s tempting, but please try not to scratch!! If you moisturise properly this may not be such an issue, but scratching is self-perpetuating so perhaps you should wear mittens!!

As mentioned earlier, preventing a psoriasis flare up means that you want to make sure that you do not make silly mistakes that just end up with pain and discomfort. Keep a diary of your flare ups so you can find your triggers and avoid them.

Although cures for psoriasis may exist, and there is certainly evidence that some things will keep it at bay very well, finding your triggers are essential to prevent a psoriasis flare up. For more information on potential ‘cures’ and other things you can do, visit www.inside-psoriasis.com.
